Fish Haul Creek Park
Fish Haul Creek Park is a lesser-known Hilton Head Island area, perfect for escaping the hustle and bustle. This park is located on Port Royal Sound, which tends to see fewer tourists than more central locations. This preserve has 31 acres to explore and offers a beautiful, shaded trail that takes riders through a maritime forest and down to the seashore.
Barker Field Observation Deck
Head back behind the soccer and baseball fields at Barker Field to get to the long boardwalk. Ride your bike all the way to the end to get to the observation deck, which offers unmatched and uninterrupted views of the sound! Looking around from here, you’ll be able to see the Atlantic Ocean, the Broad River, St. Helena Island, and Parris Island.
Greens Shell Community Park
Greens Shell Community Park is mainly known for its playground and picnic area, but it also holds some of the most fun biking on Hilton Head Island! There is a boardwalk and platform that takes you back in time to the days when only Native Americans lived in the area. You’ll find a giant oyster shell ring that encloses the approximately two acres of land once a Native American farming village. It’s part of why Greens Shell Community Park is included on the National Register of Historic Places!
Hilton Head Island Bike Paths
Hilton Head Island also offers additional bike paths throughout the island. In fact, Hilton Head is one of only 21 communities in the United States to reach the Gold Level Bicycle Friendly Community Award from the League of American Bicyclists! Bike paths go all throughout the island, so just stop by the City Hall or visit the town’s website to get a map.
